My Favorite Natural & Herbal Supplements

Its been about seven years or so since I fell in love with learning about true health and wellness. Though it seems like a long time, it’s truly a never ending journey.

You can read here on how it all really started for me. But the world of natural and herbal remedies/supplements is especially intriguing because it never ceases to amaze me how much nutrients the earth provides us and how it’s meant to heal and help us.

I often get asked what kind of supplements I take and why. Though I know there are countless number of beneficial herbs and plants for me to still learn about, I am listing a few of my favorite below. MY FAVORITE NATURAL & HERBAL SUPPLEMENTS

Ashwaghanda – Part of the adaptogen family (adaptogens help you cope with stress, they increase the resistance we have towards it), Ashwaghanda rejuvenates us reducing stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue and insomnia. It stabilizes our blood sugar,  protects our immune system, contains anti-inflammatory benefits, aids stamina and improves learning and memory.

Aloe Vera – Aloe is so incredibly versatile in the healing properties it offers. You can use it on your skin for burns, cuts, or part of your skin care regimen. Making aloe water with it’s flesh also has its benefits including vitamin A, C & E, rich in enzymes and minerals, aids in digestion, it boosts our immune system and reduces inflammation.

Spirulina – A fresh water plant classified as a blue-green algae, it aids in detoxing heavy metals, preventing cancer, lowering blood sugar, fighting against candida, reduces cholesterol, helps alleviate sinus issues/allergies, it also boosts energy.

Reishi – Part of the mushroom family and provides immense amounts of health benefits including: balancing our hormones, fights against allergies, balances our blood pressure, supports heart health, reduces anxiety and depression, detoxifies the liver and kidneys, helps us sleep better, it aids gut health, enhances our immune system, fights cancer. This is just naming some of the amazing benefits Reishi provides us with!

B-12 – An essential vitamin that assists our nervous system in reducing depression and stress along with other countless benefits that include: improving our mood, helps our digestion, improves cognitive function, good for our heart health, skin, nails, and more. It also keeps our red blood cells healthy. They are responsible for carrying fresh oxygen throughout our body.

Dandelion Root – This super powerful root has been used for centuries to improve health and energy levels. Its a known digestive aid, its a natural diuretic that aids the kidneys in clearing out sodium, waste and toxins from our body, improves liver function, combats cancer, regulates blood sugar, helps our gallbladder and boosts our immune system!

Saw Palmetto – Commonly taken by men for the benefits it has in decreasing prostate cancer and infections, I started researching the benefits Saw Palmetto has on the female body. With us, it aids in clearing up skin and acne, treats hair loss and thinning, helps minimize menopausal symptoms, also flushes out our bladder.

Astaxanthin – A powerful antioxidant classified as a carotenoid (plant pigments that are responsible for the colorful and bright yellows, oranges and reds found in plants fruits and vegetables). Astaxanthin contains strong cancer fighting properties among other benefits including: improves skin moisture levels, reduces wrinkles, helps your eye sight, boosts your energy levels, helps you recover faster after exercise, supports immune function, cardiovascular health, brain health and protects our nerve system from oxidative damage.

As with anything, don’t just take my word for it. Go do your research and read as much as you can regarding what you should take. Also, being mindful of the brands and quality making sure you’re in taking the good stuff. I try to stay consistent in organic, vegan and non-gmo products.
