An Outdoor Workout To Boost Your Mood

Don’t get me wrong, I like going to the gym. I like having the weights, machines and amenities at my finger tips. But with Houston’s weather being so oddly perfect these past couple of days I had to get outdoors.

I was feeling a little stressed out and fatigued but as soon as I got to Buffalo Bayou and felt the wind and sun, my mood instantly changed. Sometimes we need that, lots of it. Being insideΒ of an office all day or maybe school or home, it’s good for us to get outside. Especially when the weather feels amazing!

I enjoy making the drive out to Buffalo Bayou Park because I love doing the stairs there. I have a certain workout I do when I go that I’m sharing with you so next time you’re there (or somewhere similar) you can get a good workout and thank me later.

Start off by taking the stairs down to the bottom then running right back up, when you get to the top do 24 deep lunges (12 each leg) to the left and then jog the rest of the way back to the stairs. In the picture below you’ll see the trail sort of makes a circle.

Repeat this about 10 times and go slow at first if you need to.

It’s a simple but killer workout andΒ will have you feeling amazing afterwards. While you’re working out your legs, you’re also getting in some good cardio.
